I like making movies and taking photos. I grew up in Arizona, pretty much raised on movie and music. I shot silly little movies and took acting classes with no real goal in mind other than having fun. It wasn’t until I got into Chapman University that I realized I had an actual opportunity to make a career out of something artistic.
After graduating with a degree in Creative Producing and a minor in Political Science from the Dodge School of Media and Arts I moved to LA with the goal of working on film sets and making it big in Hollywood as a producer. After time spent as a Production Assistant both on set and in office environments, I decided I needed to take some time refocus my thoughts on what it was that I actually wanted to accomplish as a filmmaker.
I traveled to Nepal, backpacking across the Himalayas throughout the Annapurna circuit. From there, I flew to Vietnam where I bought a cheap Chinese knock off Honda, and rode my motorcycle across large sections of SouthEast Asia. I brought my DSLR along for the ride and really developed a taste for photography. I taught English to high schoolers and primary school kids in both Thailand and Vietnam. I had a lot of trepidation going into these activities, but during this time I had a realization that everything is doable in this world if you’re willing to suffer a bit and work hard to get better at something.
When I got back to Arizona, I decided to take a job in Marketing doing Video Production. While I had spent a ton of time doing production in undergrad and in LA, I had always had a bit of fear when it came to actually getting hands on with the gear and creating things from scratch. I had been ignoring my passion, which was to actually create things. Since this realization, I’ve been constantly growing as a filmmaker, photographer, editor, and a motion graphics artist.
I’ve taken a ton of classes since undergrad in the digital arts. I’m confident in the Adobe Suite and I’m confident behind a camera. I have a drive to create content for meaningful brands. I still love telling stories, whether through documentary or at some point narrative. I hope to continue to make a career out of creating content for individual storytellers, brands, or for myself well into the future.
